emtec Electronic at the Tissue World in Barcelona E-Mail
Montag, 21. Januar 2013
Also this year, emtec Electronic GmbH will attend the exhibition „Tissue World 2013" in Barcelona, Spain. From March 18th until March 21st, we will be present at the exhibition at booth no. E580. In addition to this, we will also attend the Tissue World Conference on Tuesday, March 19th.

tsaThe emtec TSA Tissue Softness Analyzer, which will be presented at the Tissue World Exhibition, is on its way to become an industrial standard worldwide, because it opens completely new and exciting options for process optimization, complaint management, product development and QA. Beside this presentation, we have got the opportunity to organize a seminar about the "subjective vs. objective determination of the tissue handfeel". To give an overview of the different possibilities to influence the softness of tissue during its production, we will hear speakers from different parts of the tissue industry. At the end of the production process, the softness resp. the handfeel of the tissue has to be determined to assure the quality of such products. On the one hand, subjective handfeel panels exist for this task and on the other hand the TSA Tissue Softness Analyzer gives objective and reliable results. These two positions have to be considered but also to be combined, to reach the best results for the tissue quality in terms of softness. Also important to be clarified, are the terms softness and handfeel. Is it the same? Or is there a difference? Answers and explanations will be given on March 19th at Session 4 during Tissue World Conference in Barcelona.

Additionally, emtec Electronic will present the CAS Charge Analyzing System and the FPA Fiber Potential Analyzer during the exhibition. These devices are used for process optimization in the wet end of paper machines to avoid overdosing of chemicals, so its application leads to savings in time, material and resources. Furthermore, you will get information regarding the innovative emtec FPO Fiber Potential Analyzer Online, which measures the Zeta Potential directly in the production process.

Evaluation of drying shrinkage velocity of paper to analyze bulk and stiffness changes of paper E-Mail

The emtec HSA - Heat Shrinkage Analyzer at

2012 International Paper Physics Conference in Stockholm, June 10-14, 2012 - Conference Proceedings

Study from Jin-Ho Lee and Jong-Moon Park

SUMMARY:

The aim of this study is to find out appropriate ways to increase bulk and stiffness of paper. Maximum drying shrinkage velocity is newly developed to verify bulk and stiffness improvement mechanism by evaluating drying behavior and drying impact of wet-web according to varying papermaking parameters. Physical properties of paper including bulk and strength were highly correlated with the maximum drying shrinkage velocity because fibers and their interfaces are shrunk during drying despite of fibers bonding interfering conditions by fillers and polymers. Paper bulk could be increased with decreasing the maximum drying shrinkage velocity. The drying shrinkage of paper also could be controlled by fiber-to-fiber bonding interfaces by the bulking agent. In this case, paper strength including stiffness was decreased by reducing fiber-to-fibers bonding but it could be improved by strengthening fiber-to-fiber interfaces with polymer complex without loss of bulk.
